The US celebrity tabloid ‘news’ TV show and website TMZ has started using mobile phone technology to live stream video of celebrity goings-on.

And it’s all a great success Alan Citron, general manager of TMZ tells Beet TV.

A courthouse appearance by Hulk Hogan’s son and a two hour stream of a car park where Britany was expected to arrive.

Press Gazette: BBC News opens multi-platform newsroom

News 24 Journalists and colleagues from radio and the TV news bulletins have become the first to move into the BBC’s new integrated newsroom and start work.

According to the Press Gazette, the first stage of the project was completed on Monday.

International and World News staff will be phased in over the next few weeks, along with journalists covering the text-based areas of the BBC News website.

Press Gazette: MPs want ITV to spell it out over regional news

In the wake of last week’s Ofcom report which suggested ITV could end its public service commitment , MPs have asked the broadcaster for clarification on its plans for regional news.

Chair of the culture committee, John Whittingdale, Conservative MP called for greater public funding to ensure future public service material broadcast on commercial TV remained the most viable option.

Five and Hulu sign technology deals with Signiant

UK broadcaster Five has selected digital media technology firm Signiant to help it switch from a tape-based to file-based broadcasting system.

The deal will extend to Five’s post-production operations and video on demand service, as well as to its external partners including Red Bee Media.

Five follows the BBC, which introduced Signiant’s digital media distribution management suite last month to provide intranet, satellite or public internet delivery services between its international offices.

In a separate release, Signiant said internet TV site Hulu will use its software to create an automated content aggregation system for the site.

WSJ: Katie Couric poised to leave CBS News

The CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric is likely to leave the broadcaster long before her contract expires, according to CBS executives.

Couric, who joined CBS in June 2006, is only halfway through a five-year contract, but has struggled to pull in viewers – the programme has seen record ratings lows in the last two years.

Guardian: Perez Hilton to blog for ITV

Celebrity tittle tattle blogger Perez Hilton- real name Mario Lavandeira – has agreed to write a regular column for the ITV.com to promote its new show Gossip Girl.

Hilton will write a weekly column after each episode of the ITV2 gossip-girl show.

The blog, which will start tonight after the airing of the first episode, is the latest move by the vacuous ‘personality’ to broaden his appeal beyond the blogosphere.

He has also recently taken up presenting roles with MTV and launched his own show on VH1

NYT: CBS considers outsourcing reporting to CNN

Senior executives at have told the New York Times that CBS TV news, one of the leading news broadcasters in the US, is mulling over a possible deal to outsource some of its news-gathering operations to CNN.

Tlaks about such plans aren’t new, says the report, however recently they have intensified to detail how CBS would ditch its news-gathering capacity but keep its frontline personalities, like Katie Couric, the CBS Evening News anchor.

It would then take a feed from CNN and pay it regular fees.

Another possibility would see CBS hang on to some reporters in key regions but pair them with CNN crews.

LiveNewsCameras.com is a site that streams all the feeds of Fox News affiliated stations across the US (it even includes the UK’s Sky News) from a single destination.

According to Lost Remote, the site is the brainchild of the team at Fox Chicago who had the idea to show the wider-world the feeds they look at all day in the studio.

The site also has a moderator who explains what’s going on and what’s about to happen through a web cam, there is also a Twitter feed embedded into the page for extra updates.

Current TV to hire UK vlogging journalists

User-generated video blogging platform Current is planning to hire journalists in the UK to contribute to short video news posts and edit other video contributions.

The platform aimed at an audience of young adults recently made an agreement with Salon and The Guardian to supply vlogs (video blogs) to its online peer-to-peer news network. Reporters for The Guardian started filing pieces last week.

The platform, which also runs a cable TV channel, this week placed ads on Journalism.co.uk and looking to hire a Newspod producer and a NewsPod preditor (essentially a journalist/video editor) in the UK to create news packages for its headline news service.

The newspod producer will be responsible for working video feeds selecting news stories, scripting and performing voice-overs for Current’s headline news service. The preditor will be responsible for producing and editing news packages.
