Thomson Reuters creates site for deal makers
Thomson Reuters has rolled out a new channel aimed at business executives, providing data and information on ‘deal-making activity’, a release from the company announced.
Reuters Deals features multimedia content, an aggregation of business articles and columns from titles including Private Equity Week and The Deal magazine, and blog content from Reuters.com, paidContent and more.
Data on the industry sector will be displayed in interactive graphics, including a league table of top deals.
Editor&Publisher launches blogs
After 124 years in publication, industry news organisation Editor&Publisher (E&P) has entered the blogosphere with two new titles.
Fitz & Jen Give You the Business, written by editor-at-large Mark Fitzgerald and associate editor Jennifer Saba; and The E&P Pub, which will take contributions from all staff, went fully live today.
Because E&P’s main site doesn’t allow article comments, selected articles will be republished on the blog, an announcement by E&P said.
FT revamps Chinese website, increases video
The Financial Times has overhauled its website FTChinese.com, which was launched in 2005.
FT video channels and content on careers are being added to the site, which will also have improved internal search and navigation, a statement from the publisher said.
Readers can also bookmark content on the site with a new ‘favourites’ tool.
UK media sign up for new Virgin and Perform video player
e-Player, a new ‘multi-channel video player delivering sports highlights and video clips’, is to be used by a raft of UK media organisations, Sinead Scanlon writes for Journalism.co.uk.
ITV Sport, Telegraph Media Group, the Daily Mail, News International, Trinity Mirror, Evening Standard, Metro and Bauer are all set to deploy the player, which has been developed by Virgin Media and sports and entertainment company Perform, a press release on the launch said.
The player will be free for the media groups and will provide sports highlights and updates from UK football and European leagues, as well golf, tennis and rugby clips. Advertising revenue will be shared between Virgin and Perform and the media sites, based on the amount of traffic generated to the videos.
“We have secured distribution with many of the highest traffic, most respected online publishers in the UK, making e-Player the most exciting online video advertising proposition in the market,” said Oliver Slipper, joint-CEO of Perform.
AOL launches horoscope channel with Russell Grant
AOL has launched a new horoscope channel under its life and style portal, Sinead Scanlon writes.
The site will offer daily video horoscopes delivered by Russell Grant and forecasts for all star signs. Users will also be able to email a psychic with specific questions as part of the channel, a press release from the company said.
The launch is the latest in a series of additions made by AOL this year including sports video from ESPN.com and fashion content from IPC Media on it’s UK portal.

Indonesia’s large conglomerate, The Lippo Group, is to launch the Jakarta Globe, an English-language daily newspaper.
Trinity Mirror launches Welsh-language news site
Trinity Mirror’s Daily Post Wales has launched a Welsh news website.
DailyPostCymraeg.co.uk, which went live today, will focus on North Wales, but also feature main UK news headlines, a release from the publisher said.
The site includes forums, blogs and video content aimed at a Welsh-speaking audience, and will be published alongside the Daily Post’s English-language site.
HTFP: Northcliffe launches latest phase of thisis sites
Northcliffe has revamped 48 of its thisis sites to bring them in line with the publisher’s new online design for the network.
Websites for the Nottingham Evening Post, Lincolnshire Echo and South Wales Evening Post have been overhauled as part of this phase.
