Iwantmycameraback.com is inviting photographers to submit the details of lost or stolen camera equipment to its online database.
Users can list the brand, model and serial number of equipment on the site, allowing prospective buyers to check that gear on offer doesn’t belong to someone else.
An RSS feed of new entries to the database has also been set up.

I use a more effective method, a lost and found service called TrackItBack. I lost my camera 2 years ago while on vacation in Florida, and never got it back. I looked on the internet to see if anyone had blogged, or mentioned anything about it. I purchased labels for $10 on TrackItBack and have since then covered my camera, memory cards, cell phone and pretty much everything else I own except my cat. This way I dont have to wait for someone to find me or spend time looking to see if someone posted any information about my lost item. I get it sent back to me free of charge from wherever I lost it.
Hi you can also try a webisite dedicated for lost and found cameras.
I lost a camera in England and still have not had any luck but I posted my details on http://www.camerafound.com
Hope this helps you.
