Tip of the day from Journalism.co.uk: transcribing audio interviews
July 9th, 2008Posted by John Thompson in Top tips for journalists
Interviewing: When taping interviews, don’t attempt to transcribe everything. You only need the best quotes and most pertinent detail for your article. Note the time stamp or counter number on your tape player when recording or playing back so you can easily find the best bits again. Tipster: Laura Oliver

Any tips on good voice to text transcription software? When one has recorded an interview/telephone conversation etc it would be great to push it through some software to save the horrendous time it takes to write it out
PC and Mac please

I’ve had mixed results using SpinVox, but will have an ask around as would make a good tip too.
