#Tip: Getting traumatised sources to share their stories

A large part of journalism, especially in news reporting and features, is telling the stories of people who have been through life-changing events. The nature of their experiences, however, may be so troubling that they may not wish to talk about it. Here lies one of the key interpersonal skills a journalist needs in getting the job done.

This article from Poynter gives 10 pieces of advice on how to get sources who may have been through a lot to relax and talk, as shared by five journalists who have covered sexual assault cases, people with mental illnesses and parents who have lost their children.
