Developments in technology often outpace those in legislation, and live reporting from court through Twitter can add extra legal pitfalls to an already sensitive reporting job.

As well from the legal concerns, there are other issues including how best to structure tweets, how often to tweet and what kind of material.

There are some great tips to be taken away from a piece today by the Guardian’s Steven Morris on using Twitter to report from the Vincent Tabak trial.
