Swearing aside marketing executive Marta Kagan’s slideshow ‘What the F**k is Social Media: One Year Later’ makes a convincing argument for why organisations, communications and news orgs in particular, need to get serious about social media:
The slideshow was posted a few months back, but there are some interesting stats from this presentation, which could be wielded against any newsroom executive:
- “If Facebook were a country, it would be the 8th most populated in the world, just ahead of Japan.”
- 1,000,000,000 = the amount of web content shared each week on Facebook.
- 1382 per cent = the monthly growth rate of Twitter users at the beginning of 2009.
